WELCOME TO THE BRITISH CURRY GUIDE

THE DEFINITIVE LIST OF THE MOST EXCEPTIONAL CURRY RESTAURANTS IN BRITAIN

Discover our carefully curated selection of Britain’s top dining establishments, from hidden gems to renowned names. The British Curry Guide offers in-depth profiles of chefs and restaurateurs, enhanced with multimedia features, providing a comprehensive resource for diners across the nation.

Founded in 2005 by Enam Ali, the British Curry Awards became an iconic institution in the celebration of British curry. In honour of his legacy, we are evolving from the British Curry Awards to the British Curry Guide, marking a new chapter of recognition and excellence.

To ensure the highest standards for this inaugural edition, we implemented a brief hiatus to thoroughly re-evaluate all establishments. This pause, between the British Curry Awards and the British Curry Guide, ensures that every restaurant is judged fairly and impartially, continuing the spirit of excellence that Enam Ali championed.

The 2025 edition of the British Curry Guide is nearing completion, with final inspections of the nation's leading curry establishments underway. Participants have already been contacted, and the definitive list of Britain's finest dining experiences will be officially released on British Curry Day, 1st December 2024.

In addition to recognising excellence, the British Curry Guide serves as a key resource for those exploring the UK’s rich curry culture. Our platform highlights the achievements of the nation’s finest restaurants, bringing together various accolades across the industry.

You can also contribute to future editions. If you know an establishment that deserves recognition, submit your nomination for the next edition of the guide. Nominate Now.

OUR MISSION

The British Curry Guide was created to serve as more than just a listing.

This is a vital resource for diners and an advocate for the hardworking individuals behind Britain’s curry establishments. Our mission is to champion not only the well-known restaurants but also the small, independent establishments that have been the backbone of the UK’s love affair with curry for decades.

In a rapidly changing dining landscape, the humble curry house has been overlooked, despite its profound impact on British culture. The Guide exists to raise awareness for these pioneers, ensuring they continue to receive the recognition they deserve.

At a time when large institutions, supermarkets, and brands use National Curry Week and similar events to promote themselves, there is a growing cultural misappropriation of the cuisine. These corporate interests often overshadow the decades of dedication by those who built the British curry industry from the ground up. British Curry Day, however, stands as the day that celebrates this incredible story, one that belongs to the industry itself. It marks the contributions and efforts that have fueled Britain’s long-standing passion for curry and ensures that this legacy is honoured by the very people who created it.
